Dr. Abenaim explains that the classic porcelain veneer is a wafer thin shell of ceramic that is bonded onto the front side of a tooth thus covering the side of the tooth that is seen when smiling. It successfully covers:
worn tooth enamel often associated with aging
uneven tooth alignment
spacing or chips in the tooth.
In addition to creating a bright, white smile, veneers serve a functional purpose by protecting the surface of the tooth that has been damaged.
Because the classic porcelain veneer measures only 1 millimeter in thickness or less, significantly less tooth reduction is needed when Dr. Abenaim prepares a tooth for a porcelain veneer.
Dr. Abenaim finds that the less sound tooth structure that is sacrificed in preparing the tooth for the veneer, the less traumatic for both the tooth and you!
How Are Veneers Applied?
Veneers are applied to the teeth in 2 visits to the dentist:
Visit # 1: Veneer Preparation The teeth are prepared by removing 0.3 to 0.5 mm of enamel (the thickness of a fingernail) to allow room for the veneer layer. An impression (mold) of the teeth is taken and sent to the specialized dental laboratory that will create the veneers.
Visit #2: Veneer Bonding Dr. Abenaim will fit the veneer and if it looks and feels right he will bond the veneer to the natural tooth thus permanently attaching it. The bonding process includes cleaning the teeth first, bonding the veneer onto the tooth with a special dental cement and then hardening the cement with a blue curing light.

Crooked teeth, brown spots - why did it take me so long to have veneers change all that. I finally have a beautiful smile and guess what - I can’t stop smiling.
